Disneyland Paris News & Photo Report #189 – January 19-26, 2025

Welcome to a new edition of the DLPReport! It’s been a pretty standard January week at the Resort, the perfect time to take a closer look at all the ongoing projects, and of course, a bit of news.

Disneyland Hotel Reopening Anniversary

After a long and painful closure which technically started with the first Covid shutdown in March 2020, the Disneyland Hotel reopened in January 2024 with a new theme loosely centered around Disney Royalty. Gone are the classic Disney Stories from Peter Pan to Fantasia, instead Guests can dine with Royalty and celebrate all things Royal across the property, including the rooms and ultra expensive Suites.

One year on, the verdict from Guests is mixed to say the least: the Disneyland Hotel is a nice place to stay, but for the price, the level of service and offering isn’t good value. See it seems you can’t just up the price and redo the decoration – for that kind of 5 star level, the service must follow through. And it’s not really the Cast Members’ fault, they’re being paid at the Disneyland Hotel the same as at Disney Hotel Santa Fe, the only difference is more demanding management and Guests. So maybe the solution here is for Disney to hire, pay and treat their Disneyland Hotel Cast Members at the same 5 star level they expect Guest to pay.

Anyways some cute merchandise was released to celebrate the occasion: a book-backpack for your pins, some new pins and this lovely handmade figurine by Arribas that’ll cost you €3,250.

Visa

This week the new Visa partnership was officially rolled out. Goodbye Mastercard.

Some of the same types of benefits are being rolled over: Visa cardholders get priority access to the last 3 shows of Stitch Live. Just show the card at entrance. They will also get priority access to Mickey and the Magician when it reopens in April (details TBC).

And Visa Premier, Platinum, Gold and Infinite Cardholders also get access to Shopping Service with no minimum spend (normally €50). The service allows Guests to have their shopping delivered to their Disney Hotel or Disney Store Disney Village until 2:30pm.

At least it’s not plastic bottles this time.

Construction and Refurbishments

We start as usual these days at Disney Adventure World where a lot of the progress is starting to get down to the details. The snowy peeks are almost done, the roofs as well, trees, paving and infrastructure are coming into place. Of course there the inside of… everything..and the testing, training, delivering.

Arches continue to pop up on Adventure Way. This will surely look amazing at night.

Closer to the front, progress has been made on the new planters and the overall entrance to Adventure Way and the new areas.

At Studio 1, soon to be World Premiere, theming is being applied to the new park side entrance and exit that will shield the venue from light. It’s.. beige.

And down the road, butchering of the Animagique Theater marquee continue so we can all see the big poster behind.

At Animation Celebration, the Toy Story Zoetrope has been removed. It’ll be replaced by a new installation, stay tuned.

At Disneyland Park the last bit of unnecessary Spring – fairy decorations has been installed.

The audio – light happenings begin today, January 26.

At Castle Stage, the flooring for the new stage is starting to be installed. There’s still a lot to do so don’t expect a show here anytime soon.

Work is now in full swing at Big Thunder Mountain which is getting a partial refurbishment until the summer with repairs and theming enhancements. The floating bridge was deployed which allowed for easier access to the mountain.

With the Molly Brown in dry dock, guess who was out? That’s right, the corpse of the Mark Twain which is still around likely because it’s too costly to rebuild it and too costly to destroy it.

Work is also ongoing at the Space Mountain show building which is receiving a new lighting package and various updates.

Over at Disney Village walls have moved again or rather MORE walls have arrived for the next phase of repaving around Earl of Sandwich which remains open.

While some progress is being made at the new stretch of Disney shops, it’s gonna be tough to make the Q1 2025 deadline.

The photo location background has now switch to Spring.

This and That…

With the lack of Attractions in Frontierland, the colorful residents of Thunder Mesa have been out daily.

And a new free Captain America exhibit has opened at the Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel Jack Kirby Gallery, retracing the story of the character from the 1940’s to today. It’s no coincidence, “Captain America: Brave New World” opens in cinemas February 12/14.

And that’s our look at everything new at Disneyland Paris this week! Thank you for reading and sharing as always and I will see you again next time!
