Welcome back to our regularly scheduled news updates! If you haven’t yet, make sure to read our special report on the April 12 media event RIGHT HERE with all the latest on “Disney Adventure World”, Disney Village and more. But for now, let’s dig into what’s new this week!
Disney Adventure World
Since the name will take effect when the above is finished, I’ll start referring to the expansion as Disney Adventure World. Lots of incremental progress to look at, with the lake almost full now, the “Raiponce Tangled Spin” canopy being installed and the “Regal View Restaurant and Lounge” being assembled like a pack of Legos.
From various angle we can see the rock work for the North Mountain is also progressing nicely, as well as the clock tower and the overall place making. Still a lot to do, though !
Since we last got a glimpse, Walt Disney Imagineering released a better look at the huge set piece that will sit above the doors of World Premiere (currently Studio 1)
Here’s a look at the final product.
We also got a better look at the Rapunzel “tea cup boat”. It’ll feature a manual spinning wheel and be round, with an additional “bow” element on the outside.
Here you can see the interesting contraption.
Talking about Studio 1, it’s set to close on April 24 at the end of the operational day. A “temporary” entry sequence will be in effect for about one year, to the side of the building.
May The 4th
Well what do you know May The 4th is already upon us soon with its load of one day only offerings. Here’s what you can expect this year:
- Characters: R2D2, Stormtroopers, the Mandalorian and “rare encounters” like Darth Maul.
- Captain Phasma & the First Order March at Starport
- The Jedi Training Academy returns to Videopolis for the day
- Merchandise, treats..
- Costumes allowed (within the guidelines)
As the event gets closer we’ve seen an influx of merchandise as well, like this lovely “Sands of Tatooine” collection: Spirit Jersey (€80), Loungefly Bag (€90), Headband (€40) at Star Traders.
Construction and Refurbishments
Finishing our Walt Disney Studios Park tour with a look at the Worlds of Pixar peeling photo location which is finally getting fixed. Want an ordeal.
Some of the set pieces for “Alice and the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” are visible from a distance. The show opens in the Theater of the Stars on May 25. Officially.
On Hollywood Blvd the cardboard facades are dying a slow death, they’ve had all the “3D” signage removed.
Without any fanfare at all, the “Rendez Vous Gourmand” has returned for another season in Place de Remy only, until October 20. It features the now familiar regional and seasonal food and drink selections.
Heading into Disneyland Park we’ve got this lovely new themed sign.
The Main Street Station underpass has been having some issues lately.
And in Fantasyland, a new section of this fantastic paving has been unveiled, getting us that much closer to a full land repaving.
Over at Disney Village, things continue to get worse before they get better. The roof above the LEGO store and Disney Fashion is being stripped.
This week also saw some walls at Disney Newport Bay Club, as part of another repaving project to last until end of May.
Works could also be seen around Lake Disney for the improvement of safety features and planters for the trees. The lake really is looking great these days.
This and That..
The Disneyland Pass “Pop Up Surprises” will return from April 26 to May 19, 2024. Bookings are now open via the Disneyland Pass Portal. No word yet on who will be the characters featured this time around.
