Welcome back to the DLP Report! It’s been a pretty standard mid-season week at the Resort but we still have a few nuggets for you and of course the latest checks on projects. Let’s go!
Notre-Dame
To celebrate the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral, Disneyland Paris prepared a special drone and projection show.
Sadly the weather has been terrible since launch and no one managed to see the drones yet but Disneyland Paris posted the full video of the rehearsals, with drones. This is not the first time this happens, remember “The Marvels” show on Tower of Terror? Me neither. The production is aimed at capitalizing on the global buzz for the reopening and includes specially orchestrated music. It runs into December 14 with hopefully.. better weather.
During the day, Clopin has also been making appearances in Fantasyland throughout the day, a lovely idea that should, of course, be more permanent.
Sports Bar / New York Sandwiches
The Sports Bar at Disney Village closed this week for its complete overhaul as part of the Disney Village remodel. It will also take over the space next door currently occupied by New York Style Sandwiches.
As a result it’s the end of the road for New York Style Sandwiches, a 1992 original venue. The location never really made headlines but was a solid choice over the years for pretty decent sandwiches. Thank you to the Cast who ran the place for over 33 years!
Tarps and walls were quick to go up for this new phase of the Disney Village remodel.
Merchandise
A couple lines of merchandise launched this week and well.. they’re .. not my style personally. First this gingerbread collection.
And then this fuzzy red collection. The prices are also pretty high with jerseys pushing €90 and Loungefly bags €100!
Construction and Refurbishments
We are back at the Disney Adventure World site with a check on World Of Frozen and Adventure Everything. “Permanent snow” and vegetation now looks complete on some parts of the North Mountain. Closer to us, facades are taking shape at “Regal View Restaurant and Lounge” and “Raiponce Tangled Spin” is also entering the final stages of theming. Infrastructure is also coming together all around and it’s just mind boggling that we have over a year to wait before we can walk down these roads.
On the “old” part, aka Walt Disney Studios Park, Studio 1 continues its transformation into “World Premiere”, due to open this spring.
Ahead of this reopening, new backstage gates have been installed to close off the side road currently used to enter and exit the park, once World Premiere will have reopened.
In Production Courtyard, some of the new “light columns” have been installed.
And more of the new lampposts continue to pop up in the area.
There’s also been some updates to Google Maps with photos dating late November 2024 showing a lot of aerial details of the construction site. It also looks like some of the barges have arrived for the upcoming Disney Adventure World night show, some featuring some large LED screens.
Join us next weekend as we’ll have a new look at all ongoing projects at the Resort.
In Disneyland Park we’re taking a look at the ongoing refurbishment of the Space Mountain show building. If and when a new show is in the cards is still TBD but at least we’re getting a new lighting package and renovations of the external structure.
Over at Disney Village, additional fences have been installed to close off the final piece of the refurbished Resort Hub. Hopefully the beginning of the end for this project.
Progress has also been made on expanding the new pavement that will one day cover the entire area.
And finally Planet Hollywood is really.. gone gone and we now await the start of the construction of the new Italian restaurant.
This and That..
It’s अलविदा for the curry-flavored pizza at Colonel Hathi’s. The dishes must not have been big sellers so it’s back to more classic options. However the other Indian-inspired dishes are still available on the menu.
