Disneyland Paris News & Photo Report #171 – July 15-21, 2024.

Hello everyone and welcome to a new edition of the DLP Report. This week the leading story is the impact of the “CrowdStrike” bug at the Resort but we also talk about Pop Up Surprises, ordering kiosks and more!

Computer Says No

On Friday a bug sneaked into a file pushed by cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, and the impact was fell across the Resort.

The first sign came early morning when the turnstiles were offline and Cast Members had to process entry manually.

Throughout the day, a festival of blue screens popped up in almost every land, and wait times were unavailable. Overall, the bug didn’t hugely impact operations apart from these unsightly displays and a few delays, but it’s always a reminder of how technology is everywhere and Disneyland Paris isn’t the strongest player in that field.

Self Service Kiosks

What a week to debut self service ordering kiosks at Hyperion! The kiosks were unveiled on Wednesday and apart from being affected by the bug Friday – have been operating smoothly.

The ordering flow is pretty basic and likely created by a third party company, but it works. Only French and English are available so far during testing, and no discounts can be handled – but this is all expected to arrive in the final version.

When the order is ready, Guests can pick it up at one of two dedicated counters.

The menu has been updated to reflect the availability of the kiosks and also a new nuggies menu. Missed opportunity to theme it to Grogu.

Pop Up Surprises

Friday was the start of the new edition of Disneyland Pass Pop Up Surprises and this time around Guests can meet characters from Robin Hood + Terk!

As with previous versions, a lonely set was put together for the occasion. The offering runs until August 11.

Let’s Go Outside

With the current heat wave, Disney Characters and in particular Disney Princesses have been meeting Guests outside. That says a lot about the dire state of the Princess Pavilion which is too small, poorly ventilated and all around not fit for purpose. But with that said it’s wonderful to see them outside. The next opportunity will for the yearly Princess Week, at the end of August.

Construction and Refurbishments

This week Disneyland Paris revealed a new Attraction Poster for the refurbished and modified “Pays des Contes de Fées”, by talented artist, and our friend, Rob Yeo.

In the ground, the book has returned and now features character icons. It all looks fantastic !

The mini land’s sign has also been refurbished and well – it’s also perfect.

Nearby, the March Hare sign is also back from the shop. The team of artists are Central Shops always does such an amazing work.

At Main Street Station, green “flames” placeholders are replacing the seasonal rotating flames elements. Well done!

And just outside the exit, this container / construction equipment unit has been installed. Purpose unknown.

Jumping over to Walt Disney Studios Park where another part of repaving has been unveiled. We’re getting there !

Of course here’s your weekly Disney Adventure World photo dump. Arendelle continues to make headways but this week its Adventure Way that is taking the lead with more foundations for the gardens, the landscaped avenue and the new Toy Story Playland entrance.

This and That..

Rapunzel has debuted her new dress this week for the flu. In line with the project, it’s more manageable for dining meet and greets.

And Disneyland Paris has quite randomly announce that they will be hosting a Paris Fashion Week Runway for the first time, with fashion brand Copernicus, known for its innovative designs like the spray on dress. The show will take place in Fantasyland on October 1 and Guests have quickly made the link to the fact that all the nighttime entertainment being canceled that evening.

And that’s everything happening at Disneyland Paris this week! Thank you for reading and sharing, I will see you again next time with a new report!
