Disneyland Paris News & Photo Report #188 – January 13-19, 2025

Welcome to a new DLPReport! With daily sub zero daily temps, let’s bundle up and take a look at the latest at the Resort.

Disney Tales of Magic

After its premiere a week ago, it turns out Disney Tales of Magic had another surprise up its sleeve: the iconic Wishing Star or Second Star to the Right as it used to be known when it was created for Disney Dreams, has returned! The star also got a Vegas-style glow up with an array of LED screens that can now produce a lot more effects. It also comes in and out faster, allowing the show creators to only open the window and push it out during the final scene of the show.

You can see it in action in our video HERE

This week also showed the limits of launching a nighttime spectacular in the depth of winter – cold, fog and I’m sure more weather events are sure to mess with the production but come what may, we’re happy to have a new show.

With a week of performances below its belt, we’ve had the chance to try many spots to watch the show. You of course have to see it from Main Street or even Town Square for all the new projections, but having also watched it from the reserved area in the front we realized it’s also great to see the projections up close on Sleeping Beauty Castle: with so many characters swirling around the Castle, their size is often now as big as we’re used to and not always easy to spot if you’re not close to Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Media also got invited to come see the show and meet the creative team. We’ve invited Senior Manager of Creative Development Morgane Keesling to the DLPReport Podcast to discuss Disney Tales of Magic on a very special episode, so stay tuned for a release date.

Construction and Refurbishments

Leave Main Street alone! In some alternate timeline event where it seems some teams in the ground did not get the memo that “Symphony of Colours” and “A Million Splashes of Colour” were not returning, the art nouveau – fairy inspired poles have returned and the kiddie pool fountain thing as well. Main Street Station also received the marching “decorations”. None of it makes sense – why, why now? Do they have to use them because it’s been budgeted over several years ?

Looks like we’re also about to get the LED grass. Anyway..

Over at Big Thunder Mountain, scaffolding and floating bridges have been installed as work begins on the 6 month renovations.

Casey’s Corner has closed this week until January 24. Unclear if it needed a refurbishment or linked to the building of the covered terrace.

In Discoveryland, as some of the tarps start to come down for the Space Mountain show building refurbishment, part of the lighting package has been turned on in the back. Nothing revolutionary (yet!) but it’s clean and hopefully durable.

At Castle Stage, the metallic structures that will make up the new backstage rooms for the performers are being assembled. The project is expected to continue into Spring and part of summer, and we still don’t know what it’s gonna look like.

Switching over to Walt Disney Studios Park, work continues on the Studio 1 / World Premiere facade as the team race towards the mid-April opening deadline.

Not too far, Animagique Theater is starting its transformation to match the Disney Adventure World look: a large tarp with the Mickey and the Magician show. Apparently it’s so important to see it that part of the awning is being sliced off. The show returns in April with a reworked production.

Our usual look at progress on Disney Adventure World with nothing particularly groundbreaking this week as the many sub projects tick along towards the opening date next year.

And we Disney Village, work has started on the new Italian Restaurant. The plot is actually huge without the Planet Hollywood building, so it will be interesting to see how this area feels with the new structure.

This and That..

Shock – something has gotten cheaper. The large reusable backs are now €4 instead of €4.50.

And Visa is now the official payment partner of Disneyland Paris – without much fanfare. Goodbye Mastercard! Interestingly, shops also now accept Alipay.

And that’s our look at everything new at Disneyland Paris this week! Thanks for reading and sharing as always and I will see you soon for a new update.
