Interview: WDI Alain Champault – Safety Signs at Disneyland Paris

Ahead of the phased reopening of Disneyland Paris, so many of the teams worked together to reimagine the guest experience across the resort with enhanced health and safety measures. Now the InsidEARS team is taking a look back at their incredible work and dedication! Today, they are highlighting Alain Champault and his team at Walt Disney Imagineering, who played an important role in creating new signage for guests and protective equipment for Cast Members.

How exactly did you go about making new signs for Disneyland Paris?

We worked together with our teams in Shanghai and Florida to understand what signage had already been created and what we needed to accomplish with the new signage at Disneyland Paris. We developed signs specific to our destination so that they were ready when we reopened. We had so many partners on this, including Merchandise, Ticketing, Safety and more, not to mention the Maintenance teams that installed everything. It was really a team effort!

How was the signage integrated at the resort?

These new signs are in harmony with the locations that they appear in, with text and theming that fits in seamlessly to the surrounding environment while also being easy to understand for all of our guests.

What challenges did you face during the temporary closure?

It was a challenge to wrap our arms around this project at first. We incorporated guidance from the French government and from The Walt Disney Company, then coordinated the production process of a hundred visuals for signage in teleworking conditions and on a tight schedule. We also needed to create signs that fit into our destination, adding the magic that Disneyland Paris is known for.

Did you know? There are 20 kilometers of new signage across Disneyland Paris!
